Andi Sölva Winery
"In 2005 I took over my parents' winery in Kaltern and since 2007 I have been vinifying wines myself with the aim of showing the uniqueness and at the same time the diversity of the region around lake Kaltern. I accompany the grapes, support their natural process and exclusively work quality-oriented. My goal is it to always harvest the grapes at an optimal ripeness. The winery is not that big: I do a lot myself, from attentive observation of the vegetation to meticulous hand selection. That's why the quantity is limited to about 8,000 bottles."
The vineyards are located in and around Kaltern. The Pulvernoa and Plantaditsch sites (approx. 300 m above the sea level) are planted with 80 to 100-year-old vines of the so called "Groß- and Mittervernatsch" Schiava varieties as well as a part with Cabernet Franc and Tannat. On the Malga vineyards (approx. 500 m above the sea level), only Pinot Blanc grapes are cultivated. The third site is located about 420 m above the sea level, in Oberplanitzing, where, since 2008, we do cultivate Riesling.
A very special cooperation is the one with Norbert Kofler from the Kiemberger winery in Terlan, which has so far resulted in our "Viribus Unitis", a cuvée of Lagrein and Tannat and a rosé.
